CAMBIASSO: "IMPORTANT TO WIN WITHOUT CONCEDING"

Midfielder spoke to Inter Channel and gave his thoughts on Stankovic: "He's someone I've shared some big moments with"

MILAN - Esteban Cambiasso spoke to Inter Channel after his side's 2-0 win over Genoa. Here's what the Argentinian midfielder had to say:

"It was very important to win without conceding. We needed to be patient because teams often come here to defend and you can risk being caught out on the counter. The team is improving, but this is just the start and there are lots of things to learn and work on. Our play wasn't as good as I think it can be, and we need to improve in that area. It was important not to concede and to make sure Samir is not always our man of the match. The first goal was a positive sign: a cross from a wide player scored at the back post by the opposite winger."

On Alvarez: "We're all slaughtered when things go badly, no one gets away with it... When things go well though it's great because everything comes off and we make people happy. Alvarez is adapting well, it was tough for him before because clearly the team wasn't able to help him enough. He's a guy with a lot of character, and he's always tried to give his best even during the hard times."

Finally his thoughts on Milito's recovery and a farewell message for Stankovic: "I spoke to Milito about his return to action yesterday, it will be very important for the whole team and we'll be waiting for him with open arms. It's sad to have to say goodbye to Deki, I'm glad it wasn't me out there because there'd have been tears in my eyes no doubt. He's someone I've shared some big moments with, not just our successes. He'll always have a place in our hearts, just as I think we will remain in his."
