MILITO: "I'VE MISSED FOOTBALL. HAPPY TO BE BACK PLAYING AGAIN"

After 45 minutes for the Primavera, El Principe told Inter Channel: "I still lack sharpness, need time. I want to get back and make the fans happy"

BRESCIA - Brescia v Inter, Centro Sportivo San Filippo, Brescia. The first game of the 2013/14 season for the Inter Primavera side coached by Salvatore Cerrone. It was also the chance to see Diego Milito on a football pitch again, as he makes his way back from the anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament injury he picked up on February 14 last season.

The Argentine forward spoke to Inter Channel after playing 45 minutes alongside Lorenzo Tassi and his team-mates: "I’ve really missed football a lot. Obviously I’m overjoyed at being able to play football again after six months on the sidelines. I’m probably still short of match fitness but I turned out for the Primavera for that very reason. The worst is behind me now. I’m happy to be back playing in a competitive match and I’m sure I’ll be back to my sharpest in the next few weeks.

"Did I enjoy playing alongside the Primavera youngsters? Yes, very much. It was my decision to come to Brescia and play so that I could get some playing time under my belt. I know many of the lads from the Primavera as they spent pre-season training with the first team. Today I felt really good, really comfortable and I'd like to thank the lads for the welcome they gave me."

The Inter fans can't wait for El Principe to return to first-team action and they turned out in numbers at the Centro Sportivo San Filippo: "It was fantastic seeing so much affection for me. As I’ve always said, the fans give me strength: they made me believe I’d get back to full fitness and be able to give the Nerazzurri fans even more joy. They deserve it. Let’s hope Inter have a great season so we can all enjoy it."
