MIAMI – It was captain Zanetti’s turn to speak to Inter Channel about the pre-season tour in the USA, as well as other subjects, in an interview that aired this afternoon on Radio Appiano.
"I'm happy to be here. I’m following my recovery programme and, as I always say, there’s less time to go now [smiling]! Of course it’s strange for me to see my team-mates training and not take part, but I try to keep my thoughts on recovering the best I can, then I can be with them. Mazzarri is asking those of us working our way back from injury to observe what the others are doing and try to understand the tactical dynamics. I think the coach knows I can help, even if I’m out of action now. I want to stay close to my team-mates and help them in any possible way. And I want to say thanks to our fans for showing me so much support during this difficult time in my career. I want to play a leading role again and regain my form to be able to help out. The pre-season is going well and we have good reason to believe we’ll do well once the season starts."
Regarding the new Nerazzurri signings, the captain stated: "I believe and hope they understand what this shirt means. You have to give your all for it and I'm sure they realise that."
He was then asked to comment on the club’s future: "President Moratti will do what’s good for the club, as he always does."
The discussion turned to the objectives for the new season: "I expect to see a competitive Inter. From a certain point of view it will be an advantage to have a full week to work from one match to the next. We have an obligation to return to the top, and Inter are a team battling for important objectives."
