STEVE NASH ON THE FIELD WITH INTER

Los Angeles Lakers star gets to try out with the Nerazzurri at New York Red Bulls Training Facility

NEW JERSEY – Basketball legend Steve Nash is at the New York Red Bulls Training Facility, where Inter are conducting their first workout of the day. A globetrotter with sport in his blood, the Canadian playmaker was born in South Africa to a Welsh netball player and an English footballer before moving to Victoria in Canada aged just 18 months.

Nash has made basketball history and remains one of the NBA's top performers as he approaches his 40th birthday. The Lakers' number 10 turned pro in 1996 and had spells at the Phoenix Suns and the Dallas Mavericks before moving to LA. Among his many records, he is the only non-US player to have won the Most Valuable Player Award (twice in fact, in 2005 and 2006). He's also one of the best free-throw shooters in the game today, with a success rate of over 90%. In January 2013, he became the fifth player in NBA history to notch up 10,000 assists.

Steve Nash has always been a huge football fan and often talks about his time playing the game as a kid. When Dirk Nowitzki joined the NBA from Germany, the two became close friends thanks to their passion for the sport, and would often get together to watch the big matches. Nash is also said to be pretty useful with the ball at his feet, a talent he's had the chance to show off with other professional footballers on occasion. One of those is his friend Thierry Henry, who is also an ex-rival since the New York Red Bulls talisman is a hero at Arsenal - the North London 'enemy' of Steve's favourite team Tottenham Hotspur.
