MAZZARRI: "A BIG WEEK'S WORK"

"I already knew we would struggle. We worked a lot on power. That's what you need to get to the ball first, the secret of modern football"

PINZOLO - Walter Mazzarri met the press following Trentino Team 0-3 Inter this afternoon at Pinzolo's Stadio Pineta. Here's what the Nerazzurri coach had to say:

"I already knew we would struggle. I want to highlight the massive amount of work the squad put in this week. Today was the end of the cycle.  We did a lot of work on power. It's what allows you to get to the ball first, the secret of modern football. Today's friendly showed that even against a side of their level, if they get to the ball first, they can cause you problems. We'll work on this because it's something we need to keep in mind.

"When the workload is more conducive to playing football we'll see a new system, they'll take a bit longer than the ones I've already had for a few years. And then the wide fullbacks: Nagatomo joined up late, Pereira arrived today. The other lads, like Obi, did better in the second half, along with Alvarez. We need the fullbacks to understand what I want from them: working well with the attacking wide players, there's a lot to do. We'll probably need a bit more time.

"Was the Juve game Guarin's best performance last season? I saw it, he played a great game but a lot of it was on the break. I would like, when we're fit and healthy, for us to impose our style of play. Today we got a few things wrong in that regard. At times you need to know how to break quickly, as we did at Napoli. I'll assess Guarin's position over time. Guarin has great qualities, I'll look at where to play him. It takes time."
