SHIP'S LOG, DAY 2: SETTING OFF AGAIN WITH THE WIND IN OUR SAILS

And not only from Messina. Bedy Moratti: "Enthusiasm is one thing there's no shortage of. I'm sure Inter will soon get back to winning ways"

Day 2 – You finish one leg and start the next. Stop then get going again. That's our Inter Cruise, which dropped anchor in Messina on day 2 – just enough time to get a taste of Sicily and the delights it has to offer – before steering towards Greece.

And just as our Nerazzurri ship is setting off again, so too is Inter as a whole. That's what the team and the club need to do now and what they have every intention of doing. Bedy Moratti spelt it out in clear letters as she spoke to the Sky Italia reporters who climbed aboard in Messina to get a finger on the pulse of this Inter Cruise, to soak up the atmosphere and depict its colours.

"It's fundamental that we get going again with as much enthusiasm as possible," explained the Inter Club honorary president. "And judging from what I've seen here that's one thing we're not short of! Next year we'll see the real Inter, the Inter we all know, the Inter that won so much in the past and that I'm sure we'll see again. Walter Mazzarri is a strong character, a determined individual, and I'm sure he'll be a success at Inter. The rumours about president Moratti selling the club? Rumours are one thing, my brother is another!" she replied with a smile. "We know how much he's done for Inter in the past and how much he'll keep doing. And together, with the support of you fans, we can achieve great things."

At that point a raucous chant of "There's only one president" broke out. Bellowing around the Navigator of the Seas, echoing louder than the sound of the waves as we departed from Messina.

There are plenty more legs on our journey this week, before we embark on the big one when the new season starts. In the meantime, with no stadium to channel the Nerazzurri energy, the ship is proving to be a more than adequate substitute: black and blue banners draped across the decks billowed in the breeze as we veered out of the Messina Strait. One thing that certainly doesn't need to get going again is the Inter faithful. Their support has never waned. And so, with the ship's course set for Greece, we indulged in a bit of Nerazzurri fun at sea. Which is exactly what we'll be doing once the banners return home to the Meazza. Sometimes you get going again sooner than you thought.
