MILAN - Ready to defend the 1-0 win from the first leg and repeat last year's
achievement with Inter’s Juniores Berretti team [U-18s], Sergio Zanetti
spoke about tomorrow’s return leg at the Centro
Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti (kick-off at 16:00).
I imagine tonight is going to be a long night, since tomorrow you’ll be playing
for the title.
"It’s something important, definitely. We’ve had a fantastic year that’s
had its share of problems, as everyone already knows, but to get this far is
already something important."
How has the week gone?
"Very well. They know perfectly well that tomorrow is not a game, but the
game. There’s nothing left after that, so showing up motivated and united is
important and lets everyone know just what a group we have. The lads really
deserve this since they’ve suffered so much and worked so hard. It’s a reward
for all those who have made this group what it is."
In Zingonia the match ended as a 1-0 win for Inter with a first half that was a
bit tense, while in the second half Inter were more in command on the pitch.
Have you prepared for another match like this? How do you explain to your boys
that even with a 1-0 advantage you still have to take to the pitch as if the
score were 0-0?
"They know these things. In the first half against Atalanta, it was
rightly treated like a final, so we went out a bit tense. In the second half we
figured out that, by playing our game with the same kind of high pressure we
showed all throughout the season, we could win. We did it, and we created a
lot. But tomorrow is another game. And as I said before, it will be the game.
It’s time to go out and do what we know how to do, without worrying about other
factors, and to play our game and win, because these lads deserve it."
Do your boys look like Scudetto material?
"I’m convinced they’ll do everything and more in order to win this title,
because they’ve suffered so much and know that if you’re humble, make
sacrifices and work hard during the week you can win. I’m not really worried
about the performance because I’m convinced we’ll do well. What matters most is
confirming everything we’ve done up to this point."
