ZANETTI: "THE FANS ARE THERE, EVEN IN TOUGH SEASONS"

The Nerazzurri captain was the guest on the last episode of Prima Serata on Inter Channel, airing at 21:00 on channel 232

APPIANO GENTILE – The season has ended and he already has the desire to get going again. If he could, Javier Zanetti would be on the pitch today to take his Inter where they deserve to be. He’ll have to wait a few months because, after having removed the plaster, his recovery now moves forward with a brace. Meanwhile, he’s not going to miss the chance to say hello and thank all the fans in the final edition of Prima Serata, airing tonight on Inter Channel at 21:00 on channel 232.

"Being the Inter captain for so many years makes you proud because this armband has been worn by so many champions. I like the responsibility of representing one of the most important clubs in the world. Hearing the support from all my fans, which has gone on ever since I first arrived in Italy, is priceless. Most of all, as the captain, I’d like to thank them on behalf of Inter for all their support this season, which hasn’t been an easy one," stated Zanetti.

While viewing the display, he watched that 17th minute from Palermo v Inter: "I felt a tremendous pain, but I never thought that moment would be the end of my career. When I put weight on that leg I felt a stabbing pain and knew right away that it was something serious. Then when I went to the dressing room I knew it was the Achilles tendon, but my thoughts were already on the rehabilitation, and the plaster I’ve just had removed. Now I have a brace that lets me put weight on the foot and it feels like a big step forward. I hope to heal well, come back and be available to help my team-mates. Then I’d like to continue in this club as a director, and I hope I can be useful in that role as well. Could I become president of Inter? No, that’s a bit too much… [smiling]."
