APPIANO
GENTILE - Marco Benassi spoke today with Silvia Vallini of Sky Sport Italia.
From the pre-season training camp to his debut with the first team, the 18-year-old
midfielder recounted how certain moments this season have been
"unforgettable" and explained: "My life
changed in the space of 3 or 4 months. Stramaccioni gave me confidence and I’ll always be grateful for that.
Is it difficult to play at the San Siro? No, our fans are excellent. In both good and bad moments, they’re always supportive."
On his
preferred role, Benassi explained: "I like playing in front of the
defence. The coach sometimes uses me in the inside of midfield and that’s fine
for me as well. Being part of Inter’s youth project is something that makes
me very happy and proud because it means my sacrifices have paid off."
If
Andrea Stramaccioni is confirmed as the coach for next season could it
influence Benassi’s future? The midfielder stated: "It will certainly
affect things. I’ve known the coach for a long time and this could help me in
my choice. He’s always helped me and still continues to do so. I’ll always be
grateful for this."
Which
young player does Benassi see making an impact in the Nerazzurri midfield?
"Simone Pasa, although now he’s been shifted back in defence. I think he’s
a very good player."
On
Zanetti’s injury: "I’m very sorry about it. His absence will be felt, both
as a player and as a person, but we’ll do everything we can to win for him.
He’s the first to help us youngsters to adapt here. Is it tough to deal with
all these injuries? It’s not a pleasant situation, but our strength is the
group, and whoever takes to the pitch will always give their all."
On Sunday
evening Benassi and his team-mates have an appointment at the Stadio San Paolo:
"I don’t know if I’ll start. That’s up to Stramaccioni. I can tell you
that if I’m needed I’ll give 100%. Napoli are a very strong team and you can
see that in the standings. But you can’t count out Inter. Is it still
realistically possible to reach the Europa League? Yes, I think so."
