MILAN - Massimo Moratti spoke to journalists as the left the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza after Inter v Roma.
President, what did you say to the players in the dressing room after the game?
"I didn't go around congratulating every single player. I think they did what they could because it was an extreme situation tonight, and losing a key player a minute before the game certainly doesn't help either. Still, they performed very well in the first half, they showed what they can do, even those we thought might struggle to perform in Milan. So that's good. But it was quite natural that if Roma had scored a goal, all that inner strength you need to believe you can get a result would slip away."
Are you disappointed at the protests made by the Curva? They backed the team but made it quite clear what they think about certain people.
"What's a 'protest' anyway? Everyone's entitled to express their view. Just as Bonolis says what he says and I say what I say, so too can the fans have their say."
Will you start thinking about the future now?
"Besides that, because you think just by living, there's also the matter of our six remaining games and hopefully we'll be able to play them with enough players so that we can fulfil our duty of putting out a team. Because from what I see, we seem to be constantly trying to make up the numbers."
Did Andrea Stramaccioni deserve to have a full squad to show off the qualities you saw him?
"Yes, but that's no more than any coach and the fans deserve. Eleven are a lot, unfortunately. As for whether there are reasons for it, we need to look at where we might be to blame for these injuries because otherwise it's just too easy. But at the same times we're talking about 11 injuries - and 11 players considered indispensable."
