MILAN - President Massimo Moratti answered questions from waiting journalists as he entered the Saras offices this afternoon.
Stramaccioni has accepted responsibility for the defeat in Florence. Is it really all his fault?
"No, I don't think so. There were eleven players on the pitch, not the coach. Perhaps he underestimated some things, but not the match itself. It's gone now anyway. It's a game not worth commenting on. What is there to say? You can talk about Fiorentina but not Inter."
Today is your 18th anniversary as president of Inter. Would winning the derby be the best way to celebrate?"I didn't even know that. I sure hope so."
Will you be keeping faith with Stramaccioni regardless of what happens next Sunday?"What sort of talk is that? Look, as a coach he's set out on a new experience this year that is totally different to what he was doing before. So you expect him to make some mistakes along the way and I don't think it was only his mistakes that led to yesterday's defeat."
So, if it wasn't all Stramaccioni's fault, what mistakes did you see in yesterday's game?"As I said, there's nothing to say about it. There weren't any specific mistakes as such, it's just that there was only one team on the pitch and at the other end there was another team suffering. It was a general mistake."
What sort of derby to you expect it to be?"Fiercely contested. Definitely."
We've heard chanting about Balotelli and Milito. The atmosphere already seems red hot.
"That's part of being a fan. But I was talking in footballing terms: I hope and I expect it to be a fiercely contested derby."
Just now you said that Inter weren't even on the pitch in Florence. That doesn't happen very often. How do you explain it?
"Thank goodness it doesn't happen very often."
