MILAN – The Nerazzurri Under-19s returned to winning ways as they edged a seven-goal thriller to take all three points against Sassuolo in Week 17 of the Campionato Primavera this afternoon. Daniele Bernazzani's side had suffered two defeats and a draw in their previous three games but have now got their championship charge back on track after notching up with their first win of 2013.
The Nerazzurri played well in the first half and went in with a 2-1 lead at the break, Terrani (9) and Belloni (33) netting either side of Gomez's 20th-minute strike for the visitors. Gliozzi levelled the scores at 2-2 not long after the restart (52) but Inter soon got their noses in front again thanks to Colombi's 58th-minute header. With three minutes of normal time remaining, Garritano deftly chipped the Sassuolo keeper to establish a two-goal cushion. It was a good thing too because Sassuolo refused to lie down and managed to pull one back just two minutes later, Gomez converting from the spot after Lari had won a penalty.
It was a hard-fought and ultimately deserved victory for the Primavera and bodes well for the rest of the season. The result takes Inter up to 35 points in the standings, one point behind second-placed Chievo.
