MILAN - As he left the Saras offices this evening, president Massimo Moratti spoke to Sky Italia's Matteo Barzaghi.
President, what's your view on Inter's transfer dealings? You've made a number of signings in the last few days.
"We've gone for players that we think suit the way we play. I think Kovacic is seen as a particularly good signing - at least I think it is because he's a special player. Very talented and very young, so he fits in with our plans perfectly."
Kovacic came up to your office to meet you. What was your first impression of the boy and what did you say to each other?
"It lasted about ten minutes, it was just normal chat. He said he's thrilled to be here and I told him I'm thrilled he's playing for us. I asked if he feels ready to play and he said he is. The sort of things you say to each other when you share the same aims."
Does Kovacic reawaken that passion of yours for stylish, classy players?
"He's a pretty good all-round player so I'd say yes. He's a special talent and he should be interesting to watch because I'm sure he'll give us something new and that's always nice. Football is beautiful when you see something you've never seen before."
And what do you think of the other two acquisitions, Schelotto and Kuzmanovic?
"We needed a wide player and I think Schelotto fits in perfectly with what the coach was looking for. Kuzmanovic has a lot of experience even though he's still young. He came through his first training session today and I'm told he made a good impression, so I think we got it right."
Do Inter come out of this transfer window stronger? If you were aiming for third place before, you have even more reason to now...
"For first place, of course [smiling]."
