MILAN - "Work harder and keep learning." These are Philippe Coutinho's new year's resolutions.
"I began the season well," he told RaiSport, when asked to sum up his year. "Then, sadly, I got injured and that just halted things a bit. I need to work even harder. I can't complain about how things have gone this year. I played more football and earned people's trust. I still want to give more however. Do I see my future at Inter? Yes, I like it here, I'm happy. I want to improve and win trophies here."
Coutinho then spoke about his relationship with Andrea Stramaccioni, "someone who always makes time to speak and listen to everyone", as well as Inter's targets: "To win. The Scudetto? That too. We're fighting for it and we'll try and be as consistent as possible. Are Juventus unbeatable? They're playing very well but no one is unbeatable. What gift would I like for Inter ahead of the new year? To win all our matches!"
Moving onto his private life, Coutinho talks rather reservedly about his wedding. The big day will be in Brazil on 27 December: "Yes, in Rio de Janeiro. The moment's arrived, we'll have a great celebration. I've known Aine, my fiancée, since we were kids and we've been together five and a half years. Now it's time to get married!"
Coutinho's last thought was for the fans: "I'd like to thank them for their support. Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!"
