MORATTI: "TAKING EACH GAME AS IT COMES"

"Great to know we can approach games like the one against Napoli in the right way"

MILAN - Massimo Moratti paused outside his offices in Milan to respond to questions on his side's win over Napoli last night.

Read what the president had to say in full on inter.it:

After last night Inter can no longer be considered dark horses for the Scudetto, can they?

"No, we just take each game as it comes. We try to play well and then it's down to what the other teams do."

Have you asked yourself why Inter beat the top teams but then drop points against smaller sides like Siena, Atalanta and Parma...

"You're right, that's the case. Our focus is very high in the big matches, both from the players and the coach, who really does his homework. I think he tries to do likewise against the others but perhaps there's just a little less concentration."

What struck you most about yesterday's encounter?

"Aside from the performances of certain players who keep getting better, like Guarin, it's great to see that we approach these games in the right way, in the traditions of this football club."

What do you think Inter need in January? Stramaccioni has said, "If there were the chance to do a bit of business, say we identify a good back-up to Milito, I hope the president would back us."

"We'll talk about that in due course. We'll see what we need and then look at how to move."

Napoli enjoyed 62% of possession yesterday, with Inter playing on the counter: is this what won your side the match?

"Last night I heard that Inter won because of their quality football and I read the same this morning in the papers. I think you lot need to agree on something but I think we were the better team. I've never really been that fussed about possession stats, because I come from the old tradition of Inter under Herrera, when we had very little of the ball and yet always won. So I'm not overly concerned by possession although there are certain games in which you need to keep the ball to prevent your opponents from getting on top."

What did you make of referee Nicola Rizzoli's display?

"These things can happen, it wasn't an easy match to officiate and errors can creep in. But I don't think it had an impact on the result."
