MILAN - Inter Primavera turned in a top-notch performance to brush Modena aside 4-0 and confirm their place in the quarter-finals of the U19 Coppa Italia.
On a bitterly cold afternoon and a heavy playing surface, Daniele Bernazzani's lads dominated the encounter from start to finish, running almost no risks whatsoever at the back. Colombi opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a peach of a strike, controlling the ball with his back to goal before unleashing an unstoppable shot past Modena keeper D'Agostino. Inter grabbed a second on the stroke of half time when Mbaye's delivery picked out Gabbianelli and the midfielder volleyed home. Five minutes after the restart, the Nerazzurri were three up: Colombi's acrobatic effort from Del Piero's corner was kept out by D'Agostino but fell to Mbaye, who buried the loose ball. Three minutes later it was 4-0. Colombi added further shine to an already impressive display by sending Terrani clear on the break; the striker bore down on goal before beating the visitors' custodian with ease.
Today's drubbing saw Inter complete a 5-0 aggregate win over Modena following the 0-1 first-leg result. In the quarter-finals they will meet Torino, who saw off Parma.
