MILAN - We bring you a selection of facts and figures ahead of this afternoon's Serie A clash between Inter and Cagliari, provided courtesy of Football Data.
Inter have hit the target at least once in their last 19 competitive fixtures against Cagliari, notching up 44 goals in total. The Nerazzurri have not drawn a blank against the Sardinians since 8 March 1992, a 0-0 stalemate in Serie A. Inter have also found the back of the net in every game home and away in each of their last 28 meetings with the Rossoblu, 56 goals overall. The Nerazzurri last failed to score in either Milan or Cagliari on 28 April 1996, when honours ended even in a 0-0 draw on Sardinian soil.
Cagliari's most recent Serie A success in Milan came on 21 May 1995: the Rossoblu came away with a 1-2 victory thanks to Dely Valdes (43) and a Paganini own goal (56), after Ruben Sosa had put Inter in front on 17 minutes. 12 league encounters in San Siro since then have yielded 10 Nerazzurri wins and two draws.
Inter have so far picked up fewer yellow cards than any other side in Serie A 2012/13: 22 bookings in 12 matches.
Inter are also the team that has seen the most opponents sent off in the current campaign, with six opponents seeing red. Only one Nerazzurri player has received his marching orders until now, so Inter also boast Serie A's best 'red card difference': +5.
Cagliari have been awarded the highest number of penalties (five) in the top flight this season.
Andrea Stramaccioni and Ivo Pulga are facing off as coaches for the first time this afternoon. It is the Nerazzurri coach's second match against Cagliari following the 2-2 draw in Trieste on 7 April 2012. There have been no previous meetings between Pulga and Inter.
Piero Giacomelli from the refereeing section of Trieste is to preside over today's match. He has overseen two previous games involving Cagliari (one win and one defeat for the Sardinians) and none with Inter.
