BOLOGNA - "We struggled at the start of both halves and Bologna showed a
lot of spirit, but I liked what I saw from Inter. We were solid and organised
and gave little away from open play. We got surprised only on that one corner
when they scored. We’re moving forward and I’m pleased with this
progress," stated Andrea Stramaccioni on the victory at the Stadio
Dall’Ara.
The Inter coach was then asked if Antonio Cassano’s absence from the starting
line-up was a pre-match tactic, since the coach had announced his participation
at yesterday’s press conference: "That’s the beauty of football. I was
thinking of playing him, but in this morning’s stretching session he had a
problem with his neck that almost completely ruled him out."
Regarding his formation choices, Stramaccioni then explained that he had asked
"Mudingayi to stifle Diamanti from playing dangerous balls centrally. Then
on the flank he ended up with Zanetti and Gargano on either side of him. I’d
say that everything went well. In my opinion Inter turned in a great
performance."
"I’m trying to do my part. I’m proud of being the Inter coach. When a team
wins 8 away matches it’s a sign of unity. It means that we’re focused and
motivated. I’m trying to show that the president didn’t do something completely
crazy…" said the coach with a smile, after being complimented on his work.
Stramaccioni was then asked if his team feels ready to face Juventus on
Saturday 3 November: "First we play Sampdoria. Let’s not forget
that."
Last, there was a question on Wesley Sneijder’s recovery: "For as quickly as we’re moving things along, I don’t think he’ll make it for Turin. It’s senseless to force it if we just risk losing him again."
