Now it's time to look to the future: "I accepted the new project and I'm happy and proud that the club had enough faith in me to let the project go on. My role and my position? These are tactical matters. I'm willing to play and I was told that I'd be playing in a more central position rather than at full back, then we'll see what's needed when the season is underway."
It's been a season full of ups and downs: "First of all no one wants to go through another season like last year; sometimes a bad year can make you see how important it is when things go well. It's important that the younger players understand this, using our past achievements as an example. Then with all of our experience we can try and give them an idea of the enthusiasm, the strength and sacrifice that went into those achievements. It doesn't take much to turn a season around. When you are used to winning you want to keep on winning and we have been an example of this since 2005. The will to win is there because if it hadn't been we wouldn't have managed to win so many matches."
Personal goals, but "those aren't the right words because we are all part of a team and we all have to work together to contribute to the success of the team," said Chivu: "Definitely keeping fit physically and mentally, because winning helps you work better because it's easier to work when you are winning, whereas it's more difficult when you lose."
Finally, on the subject of the young players who have joined the Nerazzurri this season: "I think we are fortunate to have a healthy youth academy and when these youngsters have the opportunity to train alongside the first team, they can only improve."
