GIOVANISSIMI N.: INTER 4-2 JUVENTUS

PONTE A TRESSA (Siena) - Inter's Giovanissimi Nazionali put four past Juve and clocked up their second consecutive victory in the final stages of the championship in their category. With six points from two matches, seven goals for (three of which scored by Federico Bonazzoli) and two against, Salvatore Cerrone's Nerazzurri are still on the path they started out on during the regular season. Further to that, considering that the Bianconeri were also unbeaten since October (Inter's U15s lost only once, away to Atalanta), the result is even better: it shows what the boys had already demonstrated in the head-on matches against Juve, in the final of the Scirea Memorial in Cinisello Balsamo and in the Italian semi-final of the Manchester United Premier Cup in Pescara, which they went on to win.

In the other group 1 match Reggina beat Roma 3-1 and will take on the Nerazzurri on Sunday in Monteroni d'Arbia (kick-off 18). Juventus will face the Giallorossi:  matches that will decide who goes through to the semi-finals.

It was hot and humid (over 33°C), and Ernesto Paolillo and Roberto Samaden were in the stand. The Nerazzurri took control immediately: after four minutes Matteo Cassani found the back of the net for goal number one. Then eleven minutes later, Jimmy Tchaole made it two. For around 30 minutes Cerrone's team dominated the match, and missed two other opportunities with Cassani again (5 mins: saved by Audero) and then with Federico Bonazzoli (18 mins: firing across the box and just wide; in the photo). In the last 5 minutes the Nerazzurri relaxed the pressure a little as they were tiring and, in the second minute of added time, Sallustio reduced the deficit for the Bianconeri.

Fatigue was moving in as the second half started, but Inter maintained control, started off again and went further ahead on 24 minutes, with a goal from centre-forward Bonazzoli. The match was fairly evenly balanced after that and, three minutes later, Cabella pulled one back for Juventus, after coming off the bench. But Cerrone's team were able to keep the situation under control, with their style of play and their character. In the third minute of added time, after narrowly missing the fourth goal, Bonazzoli popped up to find the net again and score his third in two matches in the finals: 4-2 and congratulations go to the Nerazzurri.
