LONDON - Simone Pecorini was interviewed by Inter Channel after the Nerazzurri Primavera team's win over Marseille in the NextGen Series semi-final. The first question was about his fabulous 34th-minute strike saved by the Marseille keeper: "Was I trying to score a wonder goal? No, I was on the edge of the area to one side, and if you lose the ball there the opposition might be able to break; so if there's no pass on it's always better to have a go and maybe send it out than risk giving it to the other side. It was on my weaker foot but I had a crack anyway, I got a bit lucky but Sy did brilliantly to deny me."
Pecorini then spoke about the importance of the match: "Being involved in this sort of game motivates you in a different way. Since the start of the year, with the help of the coaching staff, we've all come on loads. This game could be considered the peak of our brief professional careers, so we were all really up for it today."
