MILAN - (ANSA) With his Inter eliminated from the Champions League, Massimo
Moratti is thinking of the next season. "A wise idea might be that of
starting to think about the future not in immediate terms, but by building a
team that is essentially young. The problem is that, if after three matches not
everything goes well, you start to have regrets," observed Moratti last
night after elimination at the hands of Olympique Marseille.
Is it possible to start a project like that of Roma? "It depends on the realistic ambitions and habits that you want to have. It would be wise to rebuild from the foundation without the idea of immediately obtaining big results and hoping the acquisitions you make will turn out to be the right ones," added the Inter president.
Moratti continued: "In addition to the ability of new players with fresher legs, we also need experience. Many will remain, and we'll also get something new. It depends on the project that we put together with the coach."
Would the failure to qualify for the next Champions League season provide even more of an opportunity for reshaping the team? "Yes, but I don't know what to hope for. It's almost impossible. We hope we can do it. It would be a demonstration of character by the team," concluded Moratti.
