POLI: "A VERY BITTER DEFEAT"

"There were some questionable decisions; it might have been a different match but we mustn't blame anyone"

MILAN - "A very bitter defeat, although I think the team played well. It's difficult to play against a team that defend with eleven men behind the ball and then play long balls out of defence; things have been going badly for us recently and just one shot at our defence becomes a goal. We definitely want to turn things around. We did today too but we didn't manage it, losing to the team on the bottom of the table, and that hurts. We have to get things back together and take off again immediately, and looking at the other teams we can still do it. We are a team that can and must do well." After what might have been his best performance for Inter yet, Andrea Poli spoke on Inter Channel about the home defeat against Novara which came after a penalty wasn't given for a foul on the midfielder.

"It has nothing to do with the formation," continued Poli. "If you really want to play you'll even play at full-back. Tomorrow we have to start over again after a bad defeat, a very bad one, but as I said, when things are going badly, you have to analyse the errors in the knowledge that seven victories on the trot didn't come about by chance.

"Do I feel like I'm the weapon this team needs to make a comeback? I want to make my contribution. And it's clear that after a match like that everything looks black. People are demoralised but we have to pick ourselves up straight away. Ok, we've been saying this for three matches now, but there were a lot of questionable decisions and if there hadn't been, we might be talking about a completely different type of game now. But we mustn't blame anyone. The referee said it wasn't a penalty and I accept his decision."
