SAMADEN: "ALWAYS SUCH A THIN LINE AT VIAREGGIO"

"One minute we were all but on our way home, the next we're a step away from qualifying"

SARZANA – Youth academy director Roberto Samaden spoke to Inter Channel after the Nerazzurri Primavera's win over Siena in their second match at the Viareggio Carnival Cup: "Honestly it was a tough match, made even more difficult by the pitch and the wind. In the first period we tried to take control of the game against an excellent, well organised Siena side. The balance could have been broken at any moment and that's exactly what happened - we conceded a stupid goal. After the interval we attacked with our heads down and risked conceding a second, but we created lots of openings and our boys gave a performance full of character and heart."

The youth academy director was also asked about Samuele Longo's goal: "Samuele scored a great goal. He's an important, decisive player for us. I'm pleased with him."

He continued: "That's what you get at Viareggio. It's such a thin line: one minute we were all but on our way home, the next we're a step away from qualifying. Now we must immediately focus on Friday."

Finally, Samaden was reminded about Massimo Moratti's presence at the team's opening game of the tournament on Monday: "We know that the president follows us even when he doesn't come to our games. Over the years he has shown a lot of interest in the youth academy and that obviously motivates us to do even better."
