STANKOVIC: "A WELL-DESERVED VICTORY"

MILAN - "We deserved to win because we started the game like we wanted to. Physically we slowed down in the second half because we are playing every three days and the pitch wasn't in great condition," said Dejan Stankovic after Inter's 2-1 win against Spartak Moscow. "It was important to win this evening and our path in the Champions League looks better now."

Speaking on SkyItalia, the Serbian midfielder added: "Now we have to recover and prepare for Sunday's match which we have to win, so it is the most important one at the moment. We will focus on the Champions League when it's the right time and we will try to beat Spartak again at their ground in Moscow."

Stankovic, who scored both of Inter's goals against Catania on Sunday, had an effort ruled out in the second half against the Muscovites. "I think the referee could have avoided blowing for high feet. I only wanted to get the ball. It's a pity because I could have scored in three consecutive games: I scored for my national team, last Sunday in the championship, and I could have scored a goal this evening."
