SAMUEL: "ME, INTER AND MILAN"

APPIANO GENTILE - Part three of Walter Samuel's news conference:

Samuel, Real Madrid are having a negative season. Can we say that you chose the right team at the right time?
"I'm pleased to be at Inter. I prefer not to talk about Real Madrid, particularly not that they are having a negative period. They are already out of two competitions and I prefer not to put more wood on the fire. Real Madrid is part of my past now. I'm happy at Inter and I'm enjoying this period. I try to keep to myself what I think about the situation at Real. Like I have already said, I just want to think about Inter. I was happy in Madrid with my family, but it's in the past now."

But can we say that Walter Samuel has won a bet by choosing Inter?
"I'm pleased because I have managed to prove certain things and because I have managed to get into the national team for the World Cup, even if the final call-up still hasn't come. I really wanted a place in the national team, so coming to an important club like Inter and doing quite well has certainly helped me achieve this. Coming to Milan has also been good for my family, which perhaps suffered a bit in Madrid. When I came in for a bit of criticism last year they were also affected. We're very happy in Milan and at Inter there are also many Argentines who have really helped me settle down in the best way possible."

In these past few days a lot has been said about a possible return of Ronaldo to Inter. What do you think?
"I prefer not to talk to players who aren't here, out of respect for my team-mates. Ronaldo is definitely a fantastic player and a very strong striker, but there are many good strikers at Inter. I don't think it's the right time to talk about a player who plays for a different team."

But Sinisa Mihajlovic has said that Ronaldo is a great champion and that he is still a very strong striker. Do you agree?
"You can't question Ronaldo's quality, but I don't think it's the right moment to talk about these things. Ronaldo is a very good striker who always does well for his national team, and he certainly shouldn't be underestimated."
