APPIANO GENTILE - Part one of Roberto Mancini's pre-Inter v Palermo news conference:
Will the determined Inter that beat Treviso be enough to win against Palermo?
"No. We had to face the Treviso match in a certain way because the conditions weren't suited to our game. We also needed our classier players to put their best qualities to one side and fight for every ball. To beat Palermo we need a great performance and a great Inter."
How can Palermo create problems for Inter?
"Del Neri's teams always play to win. They always create a lot of attacking moves. So I think we need a great performance to beat Palermo. A similar match to the one we played against Fiorentina. They're in form and they will be very motivated, especially because they will be facing a team like Inter."
Have you thought about doing anything special in midfield and attack for tomorrow evening?
"It's a bit difficult in attack. Am I thinking of using just one striker? No, I don't think so, unless the strikers have problems tomorrow. To choose my team it will be important to see how those who played in Treviso have recovered, because not even three full days have passed. We need to try and recover our strength, and I will only decide tomorrow afternoon."
What do you remember about the Week 2 match against Palermo?
"We made a good start to the game and Adriano had an incredible chance after about ten minutes. We were also playing well, then we started to concede things on the wings and ran into difficulty. I remember that there were many players who had returned from their respective national teams one or two days before, and we also had a few problems because of this. However, we didn't play that well and we deserved to lose. When you make mistakes and lose there are things to correct that can always be useful to you in other occasions."
How far off top condition is Adriano?
"Adriano is not in form. He has probably lost the condition he had when he was training hard and seriously before the injury in the match against Empoli. Those ten days without training might have caused him a few problems. Whether he likes it or not he has to play now and he can't train in the week. Let's hope he regains his condition by playing regularly. There aren't many of us at the moment and we're playing every three days. The players also have to rest sometimes, otherwise everything is more difficult. I'm a bit worried about this."
Will Burdisso continue in the starting line-up after his good performance against Treviso?
"I don't think there's much difference between Burdisso or Favalli on the left. It's true that Burdisso is more of a central defender than Favalli, who is a natural wide player, but Nicolas can play well in all four defensive positions. Favalli a more natural attacking player, but he's an expert and he's also good at marking when needed."
Are you thinking of continuing with Kily on the left side of midfield?
"The only problem with Kily is his recovery after the Treviso match. You can't take risks after a long time out, and I don't want to. Either him or Solari can play, or we can play with two central midfielders. We will see how the players have recovered tomorrow. We don't have many solutions on the wings or in attack."
