As the Serie A title chase nears the finish line, Internazionale continue their pursuit of Milan with a home match on Friday at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza against Empoli, who sit in mid-table ahead of their visit.

Internazionale are in second place on 75 points, two points behind Milan at the top of the table with three matches remaining. Fifth-placed Lazio, the first club outside of the Champions League places, are 16 points behind the Nerazzurri. Inter won their last Serie A match 2-1 at Dacia Arena against Udinese.

Empoli slumped 3-1 against Torino at Stadio Carlo Castellani in their last league match, putting them in 14th place on 37 points. Empoli have scored 46 goals and conceded 65 through 35 matches.

Inter won the last Serie A meeting between the clubs, emerging victorious 2-0 at Stadio Carlo Castellani in October. Danilo D'Ambrosio struck first for the Nerazzurri in the 34th minute. Federico Dimarco also found the net.

Inter have got the better of Empoli of late, unbeaten in their last 13 Serie A matches (W12 D1 L0). Empoli are looking for their first league win in games between the two teams since April 2006. The Nerazzurri have outscored Empoli 25-6 during their unbeaten streak.

The performances of Lautaro Martínez have been important for Inter this season. He leads the club with 17 goals, which is the third highest among the league's top scorers in 2021/2022.

Visitors Empoli have been spearheaded in attack thanks to Andrea Pinamonti, who has netted on 12 occasions.

Hosts Inter have been tough to beat on home soil this season with 12 wins, three draws, and just two losses in 17 Serie A contests. The Nerazzurri are in the midst of a four-match home unbeaten streak (W3 D1 L0) dating to March 4 against Salernitana. Empoli have five wins, six draws, and six losses on their travels this season in league matches. Empoli currently find themselves on a nine-match away winless streak (W0 D5 L4). They haven't won away since December 2021 against Napoli.

In their last six league matches, Inter have won five and lost one. Empoli, meanwhile, have won one, drawn two and lost three in their last six.

Inter have gained 75 points after MD35 for the fourth time in the three points for a win era: they have gone on to win the title on the previous three occasions – however, they have 10 points fewer than last term at this stage of the competition (85 after 35 games).

Inter have won each of their five Serie A meetings against promoted sides this season: they could win 100% of their matches against such opposition in a single campaign for the first time since 2002/03 (8/8 back then).

Inter’s Lautaro Martínez has been involved in four goals in his last four Serie A appearances, thanks to three goals and one assist – he has scored 17 league goals this season, equalling his best tally in the Italian top-flight (also 17 last season).
